National Maths Week

 

Next week is National Maths Week.

At St Brigid’s we are aiming to mark this in a number of ways.

Some of these are listed below.

 

  1. Have some fun Maths Games in class.
  2. Some of the older children will have a Maths Puzzle home each day. There will be a small reward if it is solved correctly the next day.
  3. Have a competitive challenge each day with a daily winner leading to a Maths Week Champion in each class.

 

Some of the competitive activities are listed below.

 

Cowboy maths ~ pupils stand back to back are asked a quick fire question by teacher first to 2 correct answers ‘fired’ wins the contest.

 

Speed recall ~ time 1 minute using timer pupils respond to questions from teacher orally correct responses are recorded. Best score in 1 minute wins.

 

Beat the Calculator ~ One pupil is assigned a calculator, the teacher asks individuals questions. ‘The Calculator’ tries to push buttons to find solution before the competitor. Winner is last pupil remaining

 

Dice Count ~ class are drawn out in a head to head contest.
