Dear Parents

I would like to welcome you all back to the new school year. I would like to extend a special welcome to our new pupils and the new parents joining us for the first time. Our congratulations to Mrs Canavan who had a baby boy during the summer and to Mrs Hanna and Mrs Bailey who both had baby girls.

On the reverse of this note you will find the holiday list for this year. This is subject to change should any unforeseen circumstances arise. I would ask you not to plan family holidays during the school term. If you choose to do so, please do not expect teachers to make up ‘packs’ of work to bring on holiday with you.

I would appeal to you to make sure you have clearly marked items of uniform and other belongings such as lunch boxes with your child’s name and class. Please check this at regular intervals to ensure that your child’s items are clearly marked.

We have a number of children in the school with allergies so I would request that you do not send in birthday cakes for class consumption. I would also request that you do not send in nuts or any foodstuffs which contain nuts.

Please report to the school office when picking up your child early from school. Parents should not be in classrooms or the school corridors without the prior knowledge of the school office or the teacher.

School milk will resume on Monday 18th September. You will receive forms for school milk which must be returned on/before 12th September.

We are continuing to encourage healthy eating habits by our children. Please support your children in eating healthily by giving them healthy break time snacks and drinks and healthy lunches. Avoid sending in things like crisps, sweets or fizzy drinks. Thank you for your cooperation in this important matter.

Curriculum evening date/times are set out below. I would encourage you very strongly to come along to these meetings to find out what your child will be doing this year. They will also give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the year ahead. Date/times for the meetings are as follows:

P7                                           Week beginning 4th September

P1 – P3 (including P3/4)            Monday 11th September at 4.00pm

P4 – P6                                    Monday 11th September at 4.30pm

We have been advised by The Education Authority that the cost of school dinners is £2.60. If paying by cheque please make cheques payable to ‘Education Authority SE Region’.

Yours sincerely           P Artherton
