In P6/7 we have been focusing on our word problem skills. We use RUCSAC to help us identify the operation by picking out the important mathematical language. We also use our visualising skills to paint a picture in our minds, this helps us a lot.
Today we took part in a word problem hunt. Working in groups we searched for the QR codes around our school and scanned them to reveal a word problem. We then had to decipher which calculation matched the word problem, applying all of our previous knowledge to the problem given.
We had great fun using ICT outdoors for numeracy as well as developing some of our thinking skills and personal capabilities.
